Goetic Demons (Ars Goetia) Empty Re: Goetic Demons (Ars Goetia)

Post by Nex Mon Feb 15, 2016 12:32 am

    Kings (sealed in gold)

    • 1. Bael (Baal) - Name also refers to various gods/goddesses who are not demons. Baal was a Semitic god. In the Goetia, Baal is ranked as the first and principal king in Hell, ruling over the East. According to some authors, he is a Duke with 66 legions of demons. During the English Puritan period, Baal was either compared to Satan, or considered his main assistant. According to Francis Barrett, he has the power to make people invisible. To some demonologists, his power is stronger in October. According to some sources he can make people wise, and speaks hoarsely. While his Semitic predecessor was depicted as a human or as a bull, the demon Baal was in Grimoire tradition said to appear in the forms of a man, cat, toad, or combinations thereof (thelemapedia.org). Hebrew for 'devil', means 'the lord'. The Canaanites worshipped Bal and held rituals at which children were burned for sacrifice. According to Wierius, Bael is the first monarch of hell and appears as a three-headed beast. Bael is cited in the Grand Grimoire as the commanding general of infernal armies. (Modern Demonolatry/The Complete Book of Demonolatry by S Connolly).
    • 9. Paimon (Paimonia, Paymon) - Paimon is one of the Kings of Hell, more obedient to Lucifer than the other kings, and has 200 (sometimes 100) legions of demons. He has a great voice and roars as son as he comes, speaking like that for a while until you compel him and then he will answer clearly the questions h is asked. When the conjurer invokes Paimon, they must look towards the Northwest (sometimes West) for there is where he has his house. When Paimon appears you must be allowed to ask what you wishes and be answered, in order to obtain the same from him. Paimon teaches all arts, philosophy and sciences, and secret things. He can reveal all mysteries of the Earth, wind and water, what the mind is, and everything you want to know. He gives good familiars, dignities and confirms them, as well as binding men to the conjurer’s will. If Paimon is cited alone, some offering or sacrifice must be done and he will accept it – then two kings (Beball/Bebal/Labal; and Abalam/Abalim) will go to him
together with other spirits (often 25 legions); but these other spirits will not always come unless you call upon them. Paimon is depicted as a man with an effeminate face (some authors – a strong man with a woman's face) wearing a previous crown and riding a dromedary (camel). Before him often goes a host of demons in the shape of men, playing trumpets, cymbals and other instruments. (thelemapedia.org) (Unk) Master of infernal ceremonies (Modern Demonolatry/The Complete Book of Demonolatry by S Connolly).
    • 13. Beleth (Bilet, Bileth, Byleth) - According to most authors and grimoires, Beleth is a mighty and terrible King of Hell, with 85 legions of demons. He rides a pale horse and all kinds of music is heard before him. When appearing he looks very fierce to frighten you, or to see if you are courageous. You must be brave, and holding a hazel wand in your hand must draw a triangle by striking towards the South, East, and then upwards; and then commanding Beleth into it by means of some conjurations. It he does not obey, you must rehearse all threats that the conjurations said and then Beleth will obey and do all what he is commanded. You must be respectful and do homage to Beleth due to his rank, and hold a silver ring in the middle finger of the left hand against his face, as it is the use of hellish kings and princes before Amayon. Beleth gives all the love of men and women he is commanded, until you are satisfied. According to Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, Ham (Noah's son) was the first to invoke him after the flood and wrote a book about maths with his help. (thelemapedia.org) Bileth – one of the 72 spirits of Solomon (S Connolly).
    • 20. Purson (Curson, Pursan) - Purson is a Great King of Hell being served and obeyed by 22 legions of demons. He knows of hidden things, can find treasures, and tells the past, present, and future. Taking a human or aerial(?) body, he answers truly of all secret and divine things of Earth and the creation of the world. He also brings good familiars. Purson is depicted as a man with the face of a lion, carrying a ferocious viper in his hand and riding a bear. Before him there can be heard many trumpets sounding. (thelemapedia.org)
    • 32. Asmoday (Ashmodai, Asmodeus, Asmody, Asmoday) - Asmodai is mostly known thanks to the deuterocanonical Book of Tobit. His origin is likely the Mazdian (Zoroastrian) religion. See Asmodai in demonology. The importance given to Asmodai in demonology is less than in Judaism, being considered somewhat lower to other hellish authorities by most Christian demonologists, but all of them coincide on his duty, this being to exacerbate carnal desire. In the Malleus Maleficarum (1486) he was considered the demon of lust, to which agreed Sebastis Michaelis, saying that his adversary is St John. To some 16th century demonologists, Asmodai's power is stronger in November. According to other demonologists, his zodiacal sign is Aquarius but only between the dates of January 30 and February 8, he has 72 legions of demons, and is one of the kings of Hell (Lucifer being the emperor). They also add to his mission that of inciting gambling, as he was said to be overseer of all the gambling houses in the court of Hell. Some Catholic theologians compared him with Abaddon. To other authors, Asmodai is considered a prince of revenge and protection of male homosexuals, homosexuality being one of his methods of seduction. In the Dictionnaire Infernal by Collin de Plancy, he is depicted with the chest of a man, cock legs, serpent tail, three heads (one of a man spitting fire, one of a ram, one of a bull), riding a lion with dragon wings and neck, all of these creatures being associated with either lasciviousness, lust and revenge. (thelemapedia.org) Asmodeus/Asmoday – Hebrew god of lust. A demon most commonly involved in possession cases, particularly noted in the possession of the Louviers nuns. Evolved from the Persian Aeshma (S Connolly).
    • 45. Viné (also a Count/Earl) - Vine is an Earl and also a King of Hell, commanding 36 legions of demons. He can tell present, past, and future, discover witches and hidden things, create storms and make the waters rough by means of them, bring down walls and build towers. Viné is portrayed as a lion holding a snake in his hand and riding a black horse. The etymology of his name seems to be the Latin word 'vinea' (vine) that is also the name given to an ancient war machine made of wood and covered with leather and branches, used to overthrow walls. (thelemapedia.org)
    • 51. Balam - Balam is a great and powerful King (some authors – Duke) of Hell, a terrible one, commanding over 40 legions of demons. He gives perfect answers on things past, present and to come, speaking with a hoarse voice. He can also make men invisible and witty. Balam is depicted as three-headed, being one the head of a bull, other of a man, and the third of a ram, with the tail of a serpent and flaming eyes. He carries a hawk on his fist and rides a strong bear. Another representation of Balam is as a naked man riding a bear. (thelemapedia.org) Balaam – Hebrew avarice and greed (S Connolly). Balan – Unk A demon in Wierius' hierarchy said to be high in the monarchy. The demon of finesse and ruses. Also a prince of hell (S Connolly).
    • 61. Zagan (also a President) - Zagan is a Great King and President of Hell, commanding over 33 legions of demons. He makes men witty; and can turn wine into water/water into wine/blood to wine (Pseudomonarchia Daemonum – blood into oil, oil into blood, fool into a wise man). Other of his powers is that of turning metals into coins that are made with metal (i.e., gold into a gold coin, copper into a copper coin etc.). According to other demonologists, Zagan is the protector of those who commit fraud with false money, and can also change copper into gold and lead into silver. Zagan is depicted as a griffin-winged bull that turns into a man after a while. Other authors portray him as a bull-headed man with the wings of a griffin. (Zagam?) (thelemapedia.org). Zagam/Zagom – Unk one of the kings of hell According to Wierius (S Connolly). Zapan – one of the kings of hell according to Wierius (S Connolly).
    • 68. Belial - Belial is the name for a demon in the Old Testament (also Belhor, Baalial, Beliar, Beliall, Beliel). He is known as Beliar in Greek. He has been identified with Satan, both as a minion of Satan and sometimes as another name for Satan himself. Belial is Hebrew for 'without value'. Among certain sections of the jews, this demon was considered the chief of all the devils. Belial is also called “the angel of lawlessness” and “the king of this world”. Belial is also considered the father of idolatrous nations. He is considered the source of the seven spirits of seduction that enter men at birth, the source of impurity and lying, and the spirit of darkness. The Satanic Bible states Belial to be one of the Four Crown Princes of Hell (specifically, the North Crown), and that “Belial means 'without a master' and symbolises true independence, self-sufficiency, and personal accomplishment”. Belial represents the earth element, is the Master of Mankind and the Champion of Humanity, and represents the carnal and base urges of mankind. Offerings, sacrifices and gifts must be made to honour Belial, or he will not answer the truth to what you demand. Gilles de Rais attempted to raise Belial and Beelzebub by using the dismembered remains of children as sacrifices. (thelemapedia.org). Belial or Beliar (Hebrew) – the earth elemental. Prince of trickery, one of the 72 spirits of Solomon (S Connolly). http://www.demonolatry.org/demdic.pdf
Excellent chessmaster and seducer, but pretty stable and easy-going. He is a shapeshifter and really good at lying. “Belial” is a title, not a name. It's the same with many demons in the Goetia. He likes fancy cigarettes and tobacco, incense, and has a fire affinity. He likes alcohol that is flammable. He enjoys gambling and playing cards, and going out to bars. Likes gold. (Felix Da'at Ass)
    • 12. Prince Sitri (Bitru, Sytry) - Sitri is a Great Prince of Hell and reigns over 66 legions of demons. He causes men to love women and vice versa, and makes them to show themselves naked if it is desired. He also reveals secrets of women, mocking them. He is depicted with the face of a leopard and the wings of a griffin, but under request changes into a very beautiful man.  (thelemapedia.org)
    • Prince Ipos (Alperos, Ayperos, Ayporos, Ipes) (also a Count/Earl) - Ipos is an Earl and powerful Prince of Hell (a duke to some authors) who have 36 legions of demons. He knows and can reveal all things past, present and future (some authors – only future, or only past and future). He can make men witty and valiant. Commonly depicted with the body of an angel with the head of a lion, the tail of a hare, and the feet of a goose. Less frequently in the same shape but with the body of a lion, and rarely as a vulture. (thelemapedia.org) Ayperos (Unk) – Prince of Hell, subordinate in Grimoire of Pope Honorius.
    • Prince Gaap (Goap, Tap) (also a President) - Gaap is a mighty Prince and Great President of Hell, commanding 66 legions of demons. He is (Lesser Key of Solomon) the king and prince of the southern region of Hell and Earth. According to Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, he is the king of the western region and as might as Beleth, but for both he is the guide of the four kings (others being Ziminiar, Corson and Amaymon). Some translations of The Lesser Key of Solomon consider Belial, Beleth, Asmodai and Gaap as the kings, not giving detail on the cardinal point they rule. He is said to be better conjured to appear when the Sun is in a southern zodiacal sign. Gaap teaches philosophy and all liberal sciences, can cause love or hate and make men insensible/invisible, deliver familiars out of the custody of other magicians, teach how to consecrate those things that belong to the dominion of Amaymon his king, gives true answers concerning past, present and future, and can carry/re-carry men and things speedily from one nation to another at your will. Some authors – make men ignorant. He is depicted in human shape (thelemapedia.org).
    • 36. Prince Stolas - Stolas is a Great Prince of Hell, commands 26 legions of demons (other authors – 25) and teaches astronomy and the knowledge of poisonous plants, herbs, and precious stones. He is depicted as a crowned owl, a raven, or a man. (thelemapedia.org) Astronomy, Great Prince, herbal correspondences.
Dictionnaire Infernal (Collin de Plancy 1863) – Stolas is a high prince of hell commanding 26 legions. He appears as an owl or as a man who teaches astronomy, the properties of plants, and the worth of precious stones. (deliriumsrealm.com)
Pseudomonarchia daemonum (Johann Wier 1583) - “Stolas is a great prince, appearing in the forme of a nightraven, before the excorcist, he taketh the image and shape of a man, and teacheth astronomie, absolutelie understanding the vertues of herbes and pretious stones; there are under him twentie six legions” (deliriumsrealm.com)
Goetia (S.L. MacGregor Mathers 1904) - “The Thirty-sixth Spirit is Stolas, or Stolos. He is a Great and Powerful Prince, appearing in the Shape of a Mighty Raven at first before the Exorcist, but after he taketh the image of a Man. He teacheth the Art of Astronomy, and the Virtues of Herbs and Precious Stones. He governeth 26 Legions of Spirits; and his Seal is this, which is, etc. (deliriumsrealm.com)
    • 55. Prince Orobas - A powerful Great Prince of Hell, with 20 legions of demons. He gives true answers to things past, present, and to come; divinity; and the creation of the world. He also confers dignities and prelacies, and the favour of friends and foes. Orobas is faithful to the conjurer, does not permit that any spirit tempts him, and never deceives anyone. He is depicted as a horse that changes into a man under your request. His name title seems to come from Latin orobias, a type of incense. (thelemapedia.org)
    • 70. Prince Seere - Prince of Hell with 26 legions of demons. He can go to any place on earth in a matter of seconds to accomplish the will of the conjurer, bring abundance, help in finding hidden treasures or in robbery. He is not a demon of evil but good nature, being mostly indifferent to evilness. He is depicted as a man riding a winged horse and is said to be beautiful (Seire, Sear) (thelemapedia.org)
